Dear Singers -

Another gorgeous weekend!  (And a long one for me as I don't have to work on Monday!)  I guess this really shows why we all love being here so much!

Last week was wonderful - you all did a great job in getting us started!  I should give you each a gold start to put on your music!  This week we will work on the second half music, so our songs are these:

Battle Hymn of the Republic
Give Me Your Tired, Your Poor
We Shall Overcome
Old Time Rock & Roll
God Bless America

We again have sectionals for the Tenor and Basses in the Mesquite room and the Sopranos and Altos are in our main space.  Thank you, Sue Violett - I heard great things about your work with the Tenors & Basses.

This is the cut-off week for new and returning singers.

Men, please make sure that you return your red accessories to George Isley.

Pay attention as you're coming in.....you'll see what we're looking to do with our outfits for this concert!  You'll see 2 models - one for the women and one for the men.  The additional piece will be about $10.  It will go with our dresses and tuxes.
Here is our schedule for this week:

  12:30 - Chorale

  2:00 - Grand Singers sectionals

  2:45 - Break

2:55 - Announcements

  3:00 - Grand Singers combined
So, I wanted to share something with you.  Dan Reed, our amazing trumpeter, who has been with the group for probably close to 20 years, has had some health issues. He had a cracked tooth that literally shattered and not only had to see a dentist but had to have surgery with a specialist who had to cut into his sinus cavity. He is feeling a little better, but he cannot play his trumpet for 2-1/2 weeks.  He sees the surgeon on Thursday, and if there is still an issue with a blood clot, the 2-1/2-week countdown starts all over again.  Dan's sole source of income is playing his trumpet. I imagine he is going to have a bunch of bills - anything dental under insurance (which I don't really know what he has) usually pays very little. I was thinking that it might be nice if we not only sent him a card, signed by us all, but maybe we put a few dollars in there just to give him a little support.  There is absolutely no obligation to do so; please don't feel any pressure.  If you are interested in chipping in, we'll have a basket on the table where you can put in a little bit of cash.  I'll personally make sure that it gets to him.

See you on Wednesday!

Pamela
Keep up the good work
