Dear Singers -
I wanted to let you know that I went straight from Grand Singers to the bank (to turn smaller bills into larger bills) and then to Dan Reed's place. Before I tell you Dan's response, I have to tell how impressed I was with your generosity - we ended up with $1,000!! I was impressed, but not surprised, by the kindness that you showed!
OK, so I had the little envelope inside the big one and he opened the big one and when he saw all the signatures and notes he said, literally with the excitement you would expect and can envision coming from Dan, 'Oh my gosh, I just can't believe this - I have never in my life received a card where this many people signed! I've signed cards, and I've seen them, but I've never had one EVER myself! I will treasure this card forever.'
Then he opened the smaller envelope and said, 'Oh God Bless, Oh God Bless, Oh God Bless' I think 7 or 8 times right in a row. He then asked, 'why did they do this?' to which I replied, 'because people care about you, because you are a part of our group and because we know you have a lot hitting you right now in the way of bills without being able to earn money by playing your trumpet'. He told me they had to go back in and do another surgery Tuesday morning, so he had another week added onto his time without playing. While we were talking for a few minutes, he kept holding the small envelope close to his heart and every now and then would say, 'Oh God Bless, you have no idea how much this helps and how grateful I am.' He told me that his insurance is hardly paying anything for this whole ordeal.
So, you all did a great thing by helping someone out who is a part of our group! I am so appreciative of what you did for Dan!!!
