Dear Singers -
Hopefully by now you've seen the music about signing up for the Holiday Concert! A good number of you have signed up already, so that's good! If not, go to the club website, click on the calendar and look for the Grand Singers sign-up.
I'm super excited about this concert! It's actually my 10th Holiday concert as director, although it's the start of my 11th Season. (Remember the whole COVID thing??!!) Well, what I wanted to do was to have you pick the music for the concert, and you pretty much did! There were 74 of you who took the survey to pick your Top 10, so we've got a show! I pretty much looked at each of your top 10 and each of you have at least 2 songs that you picked on the final list.....there were a couple of you who were spot on for all 10! (I wonder if this should be a contest.....or a contest if you already had all the music! hmmmm......)
I also added a song that was on Donna Mills' list - Et In Terra Pax (And One Earth, Peace). I thought we would do this song as a tribute to Donna. I've also left it open for anyone who either used to sing in the Grand Singers but no longer does, or someone who knew Donna but was never part of Grand Singers, to join us for this one song. I think it will be a special song.
I think this will be our last concert where you can pick up actual CDs. The track parts and the whole songs are already on the website, so it might be time to figure out how to listen to them! Kris has been a great resource and has provided instructions on the website as well.
The registration is a little different this time because we have all repeats, from some year!
Finally, I wanted to give you a 'save the date' notice of October 9th starting at 3:00. This will be a Celebration of the life of Donna Mills. The Grand Singers will be singing 'Et In Terra Pax' as well as another song called Count the Stars. You'll receive this piece when you pick up your music or when it is shipped to you. Chorale will also be singing Amor Vincit Omnia. I'll provide a copy of this music as well.
Mark and Norma and Kathy and others have been working hard to help us start out as flawlessly as possible. It's amazing how many thing Donna had her hand in or was in charge of! Thank you to all of you!
I can't wait to start seeing you all again each week!
Stay well,
Pamela
